What materials can be powder coated?

Powder coating is one of the methods of protecting the metal surface against corrosion. It consists of applying paint in the form of powder to the metal surfaces by means of electrostatic or electrokinetic spraying. Then, the painted metal part is placed in an oven, where the coating melts and hardens at a temperature of about 200 °C. Thanks to this, the paint coating is resistant to corrosion, but also resistant to exposure to chemicals, high temperatures (approx. 100 °C) and mechanical damage.

Some materials cannot be subjected to the powder coating process. This group includes stainless steel, copper, zinc and magnesium parts. Most often, surfaces covered with powder paint have a problem with the adhesion of the coating to the substrate. In addition, these components are put into a very high temperature, which can lead to deformation of some them.

On the other hand, steel components are ideally suited for powder coating, in particular components made of acid-resistant steel, aluminum, galvanized or cast iron. Powder coating of such materials is fast, durable, without cracks, stains, bubbles and creases. Painted surfaces are characterized by very good mechanical properties and high resistance to weather and chemical factors.
