Forming processes

Forming is one of metal processing methods. It consists in applying proper pressure on a given object in order to change its plasticity, e.g. shape and change of mechanical properties of the processed metal.

Metal forming can be:

• cold
• hot
• warm.

Due to the shape we can distinguish:

• forging
• rolling
• press forming
• drawing
• extrusion.

The benefits of metal forming are:

• better qualities of the processed material
• processing preserves the continuity of fibres in the processed material
