What is the difference between rust and corrosion?

What is the difference between rust and corrosion?

Metal is a good material for processing, but it also has its drawbacks. Of course its biggest enemy is rust. Rust is a non-uniform layer that forms on the surface of metals as a result of the corrosion process. Corrosion, in turn, is the result of the oxidation of elements contained in steel with constituents of the atmosphere. Rust contains oxides and hydroxides of iron, and as a result of corrosion the surface of the metal is permanently damaged, where it eventually leads to the complete destruction of the material.

In the welding industry, getting rust is removed from metal parts in many ways, but among the most important is sandblasting and also powder coating. In our company we use the method of applying electrified paint particles to the metal surface, which has been previously mechanically or chemically cleansed. Thanks to this method, we protect the metal surface in 100% against corrosion and, at the same time, we care for the environment.
