Computerised sheet metal bending

Computerised sheet metal bending

Sheet metal bending is now a standard machining process that is subject to continuous technological development. Computer numerical control (CNC) machines are the most advanced in this process. With this solution, the machine is controlled by a computer (microprocessor) which takes control of all movements and functions of the machine, as well as its process parameters and all auxiliary operations. This allows for high machining speeds, high accuracy, process repeatability and high production efficiency.

Computer numerical control is all about the benefits for the company: reduced time of the entire process, high repeatability and accuracy of the operations performed, elimination of errors. But the bending process itself is not all that modern CNC machines can do. Sheet bending involves numerous auxiliary operations, such as the sheet metal storage integrated into the machine. This storage facility can automatically receive and store parts already partially processed as well as finished components. The computer controls and monitors the entire bending process and the operator can react in order to avoid a potentially costly failure.

In our plant, we also rely on robotised sheet metal processing which is carried out using modern CNC edge bending machines from manufacturers such as Amada and Durma, with a maximum pressure of up to 320 tonnes. This allows us to bend sheet metal up to 4,000 mm in length with material thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 12 mm. We have posted a video on our website showing how our sheet metal bending processes work.
